Wire Calculator Dialog

Lists all wire gauges and cable part numbers used in the project.

Accessed when:

SettingDescription
Wires in Wire Path Lists the wire gauges used in the project.
Cables in Wire Path Lists the cable part numbers used in the project.
Quantity Enter a quantity value in the Quantity field for each wire gauge and cable part number that you to expect to pass through the currently selected wire path.
Density (lb/cubic inch) Lists the density of the selected wire guage.
Refresh From Shortest Distance If you have used the Shortest Distance program, select this option to overwrite the displayed quantities based on the shortest distance routing. The quantities can be edited further if required.
Save to Wire Path Use this option to save the area and weight values for the wire path to use it for the Auto size/Auto space function.
Recalculate Select this option to perform the calculations and fill in the displayed area and weight. The formula used is to add the diameters of each cable and wire, divided by the total number of wires and cables to yield an average diameter. The wire area equals the number of wires and cables multiplied by the average diameter squared.
Note: See your Panduit catalog for the details of the formula used. The Recalculate button must be used to reflect any changes. You can edit the weight and area values for each gauge using the Gauge Table Editor function.
